Official Payback Review

Dolph Ziggler def. Baron Corbin

I had predicted Corbin def. Ziggler. BECAUSE THAT MAKES SENSE. Baron is def. in his first PPV appearance (Other than the battle royal at Wrestlemania) I hope WWE doesn’t miss an opportunity with Corbin like they have with Rusev. The WWE needs a monster, someone who strikes fear into their opponent. Someone to rival Brock Lesnar.

Kalisto def. Ryback to retain the U.S. Championship

Not a bad match, as always I am not a fan of Ryback. Apparently he is now off TV for awhile. Kalisto will move on to better opponents.

Enzo Amore & Big Cas vs. The Vuadevillains ends no contest due to Enzo being injured

I was so looking forward to this match. There was an obvious miscommunication and Enzo’s head hit the second rope and then the mat in a whiplash like motion. He collapsed to the floor and looked unresponsive. First time in awhile we’ve seen the ref get involved so forcefully. WWE must have come down on referee’s after the incident with Neville a few months ago. Due to Enzo’s injury, The Vuadevillains will meet The New Day for the Tag Team Championships at Extreme Rules

Kevin Owens def. Sami Zayn

By far the best match of the night. Both of those guys killed it. Kevin Owens came away with the victory. Owens said it best, It isn’t about wins and loses, its about who leaves an impact. They stole the show. 5 Star match.

The Miz & Maryse def. Cesaro to retain the Intercontinental Championship

Very entertaining match, and a creative way to put Zayn and Owens into the Intercontinental Championship race. With the help of Maryse, and a distraction by Owens and Zayn, Miz comes away with the victory.

Dean Ambrose def. Chris Jericho

Awesome back and forth contest between these two, I love the new intensity from Ambrose especially in the backstage interview from him. https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=273302793010109&id=273157176358004

Charlotte & Ric Flair def. Natalya & Bret Hart via submission (Screwjob)

I was actually disappointed in this match. It’s almost a reminder of why Divas matches were commonly referred to as “bathroom break” matches. The finish was the worst part. A screwjob, and why? Because Bret Hart was in the building. Extremely cheap way to get heat and does not compliment either competitor.

Vince McMahon announced that both Stephanie McMahon and Shane McMahon will both run RAW.

This segment was a waste of time. It was too long and was filled with incoherent rambling from everybody. I am still interested in where this story is going to go. One thing can be said about WWE, even when they make bad decisions, they find a way to keep you coming back for more.

Roman Reigns def. AJ Styles to retain the WWE World Heavyweight Championship

This was a great match. Roman is showing alittle more of a heel attitude, AJ is still a face. The match itself kept you guessing from start to finish. AJ was definitely the star.

Overall 8/10
